Millie Lewis said that when the Lord gave her a vision of The Tack Room, He did not provide many details. And yet, six months after its founding, The Tack Room is providing assistance to children and families throughout the community.
Lewis is the founder and director of The Tack Room, which began in Black Mountain in January of this year. The Tack Room is a closet ministry that provides clothes, toys, and other essentials for babies, children, and teenagers.

When some people start helping others, they just can't stop. Earlier this year, a Black Mountain woman collected donations for someone in church and realized there are so many more to help. In small spaces, big ideas sometimes thrive. Millie Lewis walks News 13 through a unique boutique in Black Mountain called The Tack Room. A Christian foster care group called the Bair Foundation refers people in need to this tiny store with so much love inside. The inventory is donated by the community.
